One of a Kind Flask Recently Dug!
Check out this killer little pumpkinseed flask which was recently dug by David Garcia in So Cal! I believe this is the only intact example known to collectors. Theophile Vache came to California in 1830, while it was still under the Mexican flag.By 1849 he had a vineyard just south of Hollister, which at the time was a known vineyard district. His three nephews from France helped him.In about 1860 Adolpho, and Theophile head to Los Angeles upon hearing about the growing vineyard industry there. They immediately established themselves as dealers and merchants in local wines, brandies, and by 1882 had established a mercantile in the heart of downtown. For some reason, in 1883 Theophile, and Adolpho left Los Angeles for "Redlands Junction" which was hardly even a town at that time. This bottle was made while they were in downtown L.A. which was less than a year. The business was called "Vache Freres" or Vache Brothers. Most likely there will not be many more of these dug.
